With school back in session and evenings getting cooler as the fall weather creeps in, it is a good time to review some frequently asked questions in the Old Northside.  We are but a small neighborhood in the big city so often we need to share our questions, concerns and needs for assistance so they get the attention the need.

MY STREETLIGHT IS OUT AND IT IS DARK...WHO DO I CALL?

AES INDIANA maintains the streetlights of the ONS. You can report an outage or problem by calling (317) 261-8111 or visiting https://www.aesindiana.com/report-streetlight-problem.  It is helpful to have the AES utility pole number (usually located 6-8 feet high) as a reference.

I DO MY BEST TO KEEP IT CLEARED, BUT THE STORM DRAIN DOESN’T KEEP THE STREET FROM FLOODING. WHO CAN HELP ME OUT?

Usually, Citizens Energy Group maintains the storm drains as part of the combined stormwater and sanitary wastewater system that is located primarily in Center Township. If you have an ongoing issue, call (317) 924-311. As a reminder, residents are required to keep the drains adjacent to their properties cleared.

I WAS ALMOST SWALLOWED UP BY A POTHOLE.  WHO WILL COME FIX IT?

Report potholes, trees in the right of way that need attention, illegally dumped trash and much more to the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4MAC or via the new and improved Request Indy app. You will be given a Customer Service Request number so you can track the report’s progress.

I KNOW THEY ARE FIXING THE NORTH SPLIT, BUT I STILL HAVE A PROBLEM. WHO DO I CONTACT?

For issues and concerns along the I-65/70 corridor including the construction, contact INDOT at 855-INDOT4U or indottscc.service-now.com/csm

HOW CAN I GET A TAX CREDIT ON MY INDIANA TAXES FOR MY DONATION TO THE ONS FOUDATION?

Donate a minimum of $100 as part of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) and get a credit for 50% of the amount.  This directly reduces your state tax liability.  The more you donate, the more credit you receive…literally.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE ANSWERS TO ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS ANS MORE ABOUT THE OLD NORTHSIDE?

Visit www.oldnorthside.org to get more information about volunteering and upcoming events, donate to support ongoing and upcoming projects, and even take a little tour of the history of the ONS (About>Know Your Neighborhood).
