As owners and residents of the ONS, we have always known the properties in our neighborhood have “good bones”. Now the whole world is in on the secret. ONS residents Mel Moss and Curtis McGaha and their Central Ave home were recently featured on an episode of HGTV’s Good Bones. For those of you unfamiliar with the show, local company Two Chicks and a Hammer takes some of the worst houses in the city and renovates them in an effort to revitalize the city “one house at a time”.
Mel and Curtis are local business owners of Witch Hazel Salon and -tini-, respectively. They have been connected to Two Chicks and a Hammer for a few years through mutual friends and as clients at the salon. According to Mel, when their DIY home renovations ran into structural issues, they looked for a contractor for guidance. When they didn’t have any luck, they finally reached out to Two Chicks to see if they could help even though it is outside of the type of homes they typically do. Turns out, they were looking for houses for Season 5, and after seeing Mel and Curtis’s house, they decided it was a good fit.
